At Safran, we are convinced that innovation springs from the skills and creativity of researchers. To encourage this effort, the Group supports the recognition of employees who have made significant contributions to innovation, and fosters the creation of multidisciplinary teams, both inside the company and with outside partners.
Bringing together engineers and scientists blazes new trails towards innovative solutions. That’s why we have always been very open to the world of research, and have always grounded our own R&T efforts in a close-knit collaboration with public laboratories. We also maintain long-term ties with leading engineering schools and universities, so that we can attract top people.
Scientists and engineers: complementary talents
Academic research actually facilitates contacts with researchers from areas other than those traditionally called on by the aerospace industry. For example, studies on the formation of nacre (mother of pearl) in shellfish helped underpin new concepts for self-healing composite materials, now under development at Safran.
